An Eternal Question

Maybe it will come back

That singular moment

When we reposed

And an eternity passed.

***

That moment when opportunities opened

Or closed in a second

To give us regret

Or bliss without sting

***

Are there such moments in love — or in hate?

When seconds decide if our course is awry?

***

Nay, the truth is another.

Come hell or high water,

Our love stays unbroken.

Thus, hate cannot touch

Where love is acute

With a depth that is fiercer than steel

***

Moments never return

To haunt

Or to torment

When eternity passes and we can repose

***

***
