Lazy water lapping at the greensward
Sunrise over the trees mark
A tower reaching towards the sky.
It casts a long shadow that never reaches the water
*
From the lake, the tower seems elevated
But the foreshortening view
Makes it appear stocky
As it squats on top of the hill
*
Who was the wit that called this a mountain?
*
Rising out of the see it gazes proudly
Down on the mortals.
Walking to the top may be a challenge
To anybody but a mountaineer.
*
Still, Sky Mountain knows that it is
Just that.

Hi Hanne,
Why is the second reading always so much better? Just lovely, and the pictures are a perfect addition, otherwise I’d have had to look up Sky Mountain!

Hi Debi!
I don’t know that, but I’m aware that this is a rather quirky poem. Could it have something to do with that? Himmelbjerget is indeed not a mountain, but Danes have a penchant for aggrandizing. They actually have a landscape called the Danish Switzerland. . .
